The
Importance Of Body Language
As they say, "first impression is
the last". When we meet someone for
the first time, be it a meeting or an
interview. It is the initial 30 seconds
that make or break the connection. The
person evaluates you and forms an opinion
even before any formal conversation begins.
We usually evaluate each other by using
three V's; Visual (appearance), Vocal
(voice) and Verbal (what one say). Studies
show that at least 93%of all evaluation
/ communication between individuals is
non-verbal.
When
dealing with such situations, keep in
mind the following:
- Appearance
matters, be groomed and neat, because
when you look good, you feel good.
- Your
clothes are your packaging, but they
should not dominate your personality.
Keep your clothes and accessories
neutral, not wild and loud, dress
to the occasion.
- Non-verbal
communication creates a strong impression
on others. Avoid slouching when seated,
and stand with your shoulders held
back and your head high.
- Eye
contact and smile indicate confidence;
take the opportunity to demonstrate
your strength in interpersonal skills.
- Your
handshake sends a strong tactile message,
give a firm (but not hard) handshake,
and ensure your hands are not sweaty.
- Your
voice can have a strong impression
on the other party. Speak clearly,
keeping your voice steady.
- Your
vocabulary serves as an aid to better
communication; the words you use say
something about you and your knowledge
of the industry. Use "their"
words and talk "their" talk.

Steps to Crystal Clear Communication
When
you speak to other persons, you have no
idea what they are hearing, unless you
use a few tips when speaking that lead
you to crystal clear communication.
Step
# 1 :
Be sure to ask if they have any questions,
or if they understand what you have just
said. You may find that they need a different
explanation, or that they are a little
confused.
Step
# 2 :
Try to see it from their point of view.
They may have different ideas and thoughts
about things, and a different personality.
What sounds clear to you may cause worry
for others.
Step
# 3 :
Watch for nonverbal feedback. Are their
arms or legs crossed? Do they look worried,
frustrated, or lost? If so, ask if they
understand what you are trying to say.
This way you'll be sure to make your point
without causing negative feelings in others.
Common
Excuses To Actions
Many people have a goal in mind, but don't
take the steps to achieve them. Why? Because
of the myths they believe in. Following
are some of the major myths that people
believe, and why you should avoid them.
I can't do it
Yes
you can! What others have done, you can
do. With the same size brain, same two
arms & legs, with the same amount
of time during each day, men & women
have done extraordinary things. What they
did, you can also do. I can start tomorrow
Maybe
you can't. Never put things off that you
can do today. Tomorrow is never a guarantee,
and no one can know what the future holds.
All you can be sure of is that right now,
you are here and can accomplish your goals.
It may not be right for me
You'll
never be 100% sure that what you are striving
for is the perfect thing for you. This
develops over time, and you will take
many turns along the way. Don't wait for
the perfect opportunity knocks on your
door. You must go after it yourself. Start
Today
Whatever
goal you may have, whatever dream you
want to achieve, start today. After you
are through reading this idea-kit, you
have a choice. You can go about your days
and weeks like you have been for the past
few years, or you can set a goal, dedicate
yourself to it, and do what it takes to
make it come true.
